Career story
Curiosity and sense of social responsibility are the primary fuels for keeping me motivated in doing research. I love exploring new knowledge and seeking opportunities to make positive impact via my work. These also help me find research questions or ideas - they are developed from lived realities, either from my own experiences and observations or other people's stories. This is what draws me to social science - it speaks directly to who we are and how we live. My decision-making approaches of data collection (or research design in a more general sense) have also been influenced by such fuels. The alignment between the design and research questions is principal but I have also been keen to explore creative research methods, I believe this is key for pushing the boundaries of knowledge. Finally, if I could give advice to my earlier self who were learning about research, it would be "there is no perfect research but stay curious and keep working on what matters to you and people you care about". It is important to stay open and flexible along the way. Good luck to all (future) researchers!
