Reimagining a School Website Through Co-Design

What began as a website refresh became an opportunity to better understand what matters most to the Moorlands Junior School community.

Through co-design workshops with parents, children and staff, the project explored how the school website could become easier to navigate while also better reflecting the values and experiences that make Moorlands unique.

The result was a website shaped by community voices, designed to improve access to information, celebrate school life and strengthen a sense of belonging.

Impact

250+ students gained better digital support; the framework was adopted by three partner schools across the network.

Challenge

An outdated website and fragmented digital tools meant families and staff were under-served — especially those with accessibility needs.

Innovation

Student-led needs analysis, co-design workshops with teachers, and a prototype-first approach produced a fully inclusive digital strategy.

" Working with the Sharing Student Summaries Project has been invaluable in helping us create a website that truly works for all our key stakeholders. The preparation and workshops the project facilitated with parents, children and staff gave us insights we wouldn’t have gained otherwise and ensured our website is as accessible, engaging and useful as possible.
The collaboration also sparked meaningful conversations across our school community, allowing us to better understand different perspectives and make decisions that genuinely reflect everyone’s needs."
